January 18th, 2013
Betsy Andreu, wife of Lance Armstrong’s former teammate Frankie Andreu, erupted on CNN after listening to Armstrong’s interview with Oprah Winfrey on Thursday. Mrs. Andreu was a guest on Anderson Cooper’s “AC360″ and appeared visibly upset with Lance’s lack of contrition.
Armstrong joked with Oprah during the interview that while he admitted to Andreu that he called her “crazy” and a “bitch,” he “never called her fat” – implying that guesture was some form of consolation. Watch Andreu react:

Watch: Manti Te’o Talks About His Fake Dead Girlfriend
January 17th, 2013
Wednesday’s revelation that Lennay Kekua, the deceased girlfriend of star Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o, did not exist, sent shock waves throughout the news media. Te’o issued a statement where he said:
“This is incredibly embarrassing to talk about, but over an extended period of time, I developed an emotional relationship with a woman I met online. We maintained what I thought to be an authentic relationship by communicating frequently online and on the phone, and I grew to care deeply about her. To realize that I was the victim of what was apparently someone’s sick joke and constant lies was, and is, painful and humiliating.”
In this interview with ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski, Te’o relives the final hours of his “girlfriend’s” life before the hoax was uncovered.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Search Engine: Hot on Twitter, MIA on Facebook
January 16th, 2013
Facebook’s dramatic announcement that it is launching a new internal search engine brought plenty of buzz from supporters and critics voicing their opinions across the digital landscape.
Just not on Facebook.
Twitter exploded with the news of “Graph Search,” which will allow Facebook users to search for, among other things, common parallels they have with their friends. By late afternoon, “Graph Search” was trending worldwide – on Twitter.
Log in to Facebook and a search for “graph search” yields 10 separate community pages, each with a varying amounts of “Likes” — half of which were in the single digits. That’s hardly promoting your own brand. Had Twitter made the announcement, countless tweets would have appeared within seconds for anyone to find after a basic search.
Watch: Jon Stewart Strikes Back Against Paul Krugman
January 15th, 2013
The Daily Show funnyman rips the economist in their spat over a trillion-dollar coin–this after Krugman took a swipe at Stewart’s “brand” in the New York Times, calling Stewart “lazy.” Not too lazy to retaliate, apparently.
Jodie Foster’s Public Plea For Privacy
January 15th, 2013
One of the more captivating moments from Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards was the speech made by Jodie Foster, who accepted the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award and didn’t shy away from spilling her guts.
Sort of.
Embedded in her honest and heartfelt monologue was an aside about privacy. Foster has long kept her private life out of the public eye, and carries a disdain for those who exploit the privacy of others. ”But seriously,” Foster said, “if you had been a public figure from the time that you were a toddler, if you’d had to fight for a life that felt real and honest and normal against all odds, then, maybe, then you too would value privacy against all else.”
The irony of Foster’s plea for privacy was its public setting. The Golden Globes were watched by 19.7 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. That’s not exactly like speaking to the local Rotary Club. Sunday was not the first time Foster has voiced her disdain for a lack of privacy either. In August 2012, she wrote an article for The Daily Beast in which she criticized the media for making a “spectacle” out of Kristen Stewart’s very public breakup with Robert Pattinson.

Hindsight Is 20/20: D.C. Media Savage Decision on RGIII
January 12th, 2013
For a town that seems to care about its sports as much as it does its politics, Washington is facing the football version of the fiscal cliff.
After an injury to Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and the team’s premature exit from the playoffs, a media orgy has ensued with more what-ifs and if-onlys than a sports fan can stomach. Questions like “Why did head coach Mike Shanahan keep Griffin in the game?” and “What if RGIII had taken himself out of the game?” have become the “Will we reach a budget deal today?” of sports punditry.
NY Post Caught With Its Pants Down On Anthony Weiner Story
January 11th, 2013
Anthony Weiner was forced to resign from Congress in disgrace after accidentally tweeting lewd pictures of himself. The New York congressman initially claimed his account had been hacked but eventually fessed up and showed contrition. If only the New York Post could do the same.
The Post reported Thursday that Anthony Weiner was taking a job on Wall Street to be a “a consultant at Concept Capital Markets, a Madison Avenue brokerage firm,” according to what the Post called “sources.”
There was one tiny problem with the story. It was totally false.
