Italy’s economic crisis is well established, and is forcing sweeping cuts by the government. Never a popular move with those whose budgets are cut.
But one museum facing decreased resources is taking an unusual approach to the situation. Antonio Manfredi has pledged to torch three pieces a week until the budget cuts are reversed. He’s already burned one, with the artist’s consent.
Here’s the thing we don’t get: how does having fewer works help argue against a budget cut?
