Sean Parker Wants You to Chat with Cool Strangers

We exist in an e-business and e-social world, one with which I’m certainly familiar. Skype and Google Hangout often come in handy for interviews with young entrepreneurs nationwide for my forthcoming column (shameless plug) and chats with my cousins in Israel. But is video chat a necessary medium for interacting with strangers?
Calling all people who personally enjoy speaking to random passersbys. Plus anyone who jumps at the opportunity for awkward first date chats. Napster co-founders Sean Parker (not to be confused with Justin Timberlake) and Shawn Fanning introduce Airtime, a video chat service.
According to psfk, Airtime will run through Facebook to connect users with friends, and well, strangers via video. Users can also share YouTube videos…wait, didn’t Google+ Hangout already come up with that?
I’m not quite seeing the wow factor here. I almost dozed off watching the promotional video. See for yourself:

Gawker reports that Romney, on a walk on the beach with his wife, confronted his neighbor, Mr. Quint, who was smoking marijuana. Later on an officer told Quint that his neighbors had complained about his pot smoking, insinuating Romney as the tattle-tale.
