In an interview with Savannah Guthrie of NBC’s Today Show, Barack Obama shared his parenting wisdom about how the President and the First Lady plan on discouraging their daughters from getting tattoos. He said “What we’ve said to the girls is that ‘If you guys ever decide to get a tattoo, then Mommy and me will get the exact same tattoo, in the same place, and we’ll go on YouTube and show it off as a family tattoo.”

Gawker’s First Amendment Fight Over Hulk Hogan’s Sex Tape
April 26th, 2013What does Hulk Hogan’s penis have in common with Pentagon Papers? Like the vital historical records of American involvement in Vietnam, the member of the professional wrestler who also starred in films like Mr. Nanny is also the subject of a major First Amendment lawsuit.
In October, Gawker published a one minute clip of a Hulk Hogan sex tape, along with a full description of the full 30 minute video from writer A.J. Daulerio. Needless to say, Hogan was unhappy with this. He sued.
On Thursday, a circuit court judge in Piniellas County, Florida ruled that not only did Gawker have to take down the video but its description. Although Gawker took down the one minute clip, it refused to take down the article. As Gawker’s editor, John J. Cook writes:
We publish all manner of stories here. Some are serious, some are frivolous, some are dumb. I am not going to make a case that the future of the Republic rises or falls on the ability of the general public to watch a video of Hulk Hogan fucking his friend’s ex-wife. But the Constitution does unambiguously accord us the right to publish true things about public figures. And Campbell’s order requiring us to take down not only a very brief, highly edited video excerpt from a 30-minute Hulk Hogan fucking session but also a lengthy written account from someone who had watched the entirety of that fucking session, is risible and contemptuous of centuries of First Amendment jurisprudence.
